FAQs

  • The most basic difference is in what these professions do.

Counselors/Therapists assess, diagnose, and treat mental illness. As such, therapists often focus their work on identifying and reducing symptoms. Counseling/Therapy is billable to insurance and requires a diagnosis.

Coaches motivate and encourage people to achieve specific goals. They provide an ongoing partnership designed to help clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives.

Of course, there is overlap —many therapists focus attention on client strengths and resources, and many coaches aim to reduce and resolve the problems that stand in the way of clients achieving their goals. Coaching is not billable to insurance and coaches are not licensed to diagnose. Coaching does not required diagnosis-just an individual ready to do some work.

  • Great question! I do accept insurance, BUT not all insurances. Please reach out to learn if your insurance is accepted. Currently, I accept:

    Blue Cross Blue Shield

    Aetna

    Medica (CHI plan only)

    Midlands Choice

    Optum/UMR

If you are not within my network I can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance.

A superbill can be provided to you following appointments for you to submit claims to your insurance for reimbursement.

Depending upon your unique plan’s benefits, they may reimburse you differently than if you were working with an in-network provider. You can find your out-of-network versus in-network behavioral health benefits by calling the number on the back of your insurance card.

For those out-of-network or choosing private pay, payment is required the day of the session.

Payments can be made via cash, check, credit card, debit card, HSA or medical FSA payments are accepted. Charges are run on the preferred payment method the day of the appointment.

  • Check out this page to give you more information on how to talk to your insurance about out-of-network providers.

    Hope this helps!

  • With online therapy there is:

Access therapy from anywhere with your mobile or smart device. All you need is private space and internet.

We will meet virtually through a HIPPA-compliant platform for our sessions.

We will be able to communicate with me through a HIPPA-compliant platform and 24/7 secure client portal.

  • Your first session will be a time for us to get to know each other better, ask questions and discuss goals.

You can share about whatever is going on in your life and we will work together to figure out a game plan moving forward. As your personal needs change over time, so does the direction of your support. Ongoing sessions are less formal and are more of a conversation with purpose and direction. We discuss the issues you are facing with a focus on finding solutions.

    I promise it’s not scary!

  • Medication alone cannot fix what’s going on. It treats symptoms. Our work together is designed to explore the root of the issue, dig deep, and teach strategies to help you accomplish your personal and relational goals. Medication can be effective and is sometimes needed in conjunction with therapy.

If you are interested in alternatives to medication I’d be happy to explore them with you.

  • Don’t wait to take care of yourself. Give it a try. It can be scary to try something new and be vulnerable. It’s important that you “click” with the person that you are doing this work with. Give yourself four sessions before you decide it’s not for you. You’ll never regret taking care of yourself.

  • You don’t…but you really won’t if you don’t give it a try.

I’m here to be someone who can support you, someone who can listen, someone who can encourage and push you when you need it and someone who can be a watcher of your thoughts. No judgement, no agenda, I’m here to help you.

Schedule a FREE 15 minute consult to get to know me, ask any questions and see if we are a good fit.

If you don’t think we click, that’s okay too. I’d be happy to help you find a therapist that is right for you.

  • Can’t wait to get started! Let’s start by scheduling a consultation to meet and answer any questions you may have.

  • Everyone is different. Taking care of yourself takes time, so don’t rush it. Often clients start by working with a therapist every week, once the client and therapist feel things are going well the frequency of sessions can be adjusted to every other week or monthly as needed.
